The UNU-FTP is financed by the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, but the Marine Research Institute is responsible for its operation in formal cooperation between University of Iceland, University of Akureyri,and MATIS - Food Research Institute.
UNU-FTP works with many international and regional bodies on strengthening institutional capacity in fisheries. The cooperation is mainly on developing short courses and on identifying priority
areas and people in member countries.
