The 2017 UNU-FTP fellows are arriving

This year 21 fellows are taking part in our six-month training program, of which the majority is women. They are coming from 15 countries in Asia, Africa, Central America and the Caribbean region.

Eight of them will specialise in quality management; seven in stock assessment; and six in sustainable aquaculture.

The program is structured into three parts: The introductory course (six weeks); the specialist course (six weeks); and about three months final project.

The introductory course gives our fellows a holistic view of fisheries and provides insights into various disciplines within fisheries and their connectedness.

During the specialist training, they focus on one specific area of fisheries and hone their expertise through lectures, assignments, and site visits.

In the final part of the 6-month training fellows work closely with a supervisor to conduct research on a pressing issue related to their work at home.
